Framing is an important element of how your artwork looks. You are buying a gallery-quality premium photography print, I'd recommend finding a professional framer in your local area to get your artwork framed. It will cost a bit more but for display purposes it will give that classic look and will last longer.
Once you receive your un-stretched photography wall art, please do everything to avoid any damage. Unrolling it on your own, keeping it under direct sunlight etc. are things to watch out for.
What to keep in mind when selecting frames for Fine Art Photography Print
Framing Options:
There are many kinds of framing options available to choose from. There are classic wood frames - oak, mahogany, walnut and rustic reclaimed barn wood.
Alternatively, there are metal frames available in finishes such as - gold, silver, graphite, bronze and black.
I prefer simple black or white wood frames for artwork, as it showcases the beauty of a nature or landscape photo well and has a classic look. Galleries around the world, also use Black or Silver with Lustre finish (not shiny). You can choose Metal if you'd like. They are easy to repair if damaged than wood.
Frame Depth
Frame should be at least 1 inch deep. Deeper the better.
Mounting Mat
Matting is important for aesthetics purposes. It draws the viewer's eye in and sets the mood for the artwork. White mat boards can help the artwork look larger, while darker colors can make them look smaller. Archivals mats are used for preserving the artwork for years. When selecting mat, look for acid-free, beveled, double thick mounting mat for that professional look.
Glass OR Acrylic
For frames bigger than 8"x10", you want to watch out for glare. You want to look for non-glare and UV protection qualities in your frame.
