FAQ's

How did you get started in art and photography?

I decided to pursue art and photography as a hobby during the pandemic. Covid restrictions slowed life down and presented an opportunity to pursue interests I previously had no time for. Still Life, in particular food photography caught my attention first. There was something about fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs that represented healing, renewal and life in contrast to the gloominess surrounding the world. Being an avid gardener and a home cook myself, I felt instantly drawn to the subject. Food Photography became my creative outlet, part of my self-care routine and a productive use of stay at home time.

How did the idea of Wall Art Prints come about?

I had been looking for wall art for my kitchen for a while and they were difficult to find. After I began learning photography, I started experimenting with creating photography prints. I began photographing Herbs and came up with the Healing herbs collection. Herbs are one of my personal all time favorite subject to photograph due to their versatility. Besides their culinary use, they are healing, aromatic and purifying. I thought they'd be perfect as my very first series.

As I ventured into Nature and Landscape, Overcast collection was born. This collection of photographs is inspired by the PNW (Pacific North West) - overcast days, rainy weather, green interiors and gorgeous west coast water.

Followed by Nature Beyond Borders collection - a collection of photographs inspired by the beauty of North American West Coast.

After receiving encouraging feedback from friends and family, I decided to publish my images and pursue my artistic side more publicly.

How do Commissions work?

If you'd like exclusive print done for your home or business, we can create one. We'll discuss details such as - subject, color preferences, composition, size, price, agreement etc. to come up with a print that suits your needs. Location can be known or unknown. Once I have taken the shots, edited them, you will get to select one or more out of several choices presented. Please plan at least 6 weeks in advance for custom work, edits, print and delivery from when you need the print since I am able to work on art/photography projects only during my free time.

What locations do you shoot at?

Mostly southwestern British Columbia - Vancouver and Lower Mainland. On occasion, I will travel to Washington, Oregon and California depending upon my schedule.

What are the ethics followed for photography?

I shoot in RAW format using a DSLR. This way I can control the edits and present a more realistic image than say one that is shot as JPEG. Also, I shoot in natural light. Once I capture what I like, I apply minor edits to remove any imperfections such as a specs of dust or or enhancing colors etc. I try to maintain and deliver a true reproduction of what the subject and the set/scene looked like as if you were standing next to me.

For still images - All produce, some organic, is purchased locally. Ceramics are purchased either from a local artist or from stores. Surfaces and backdrops are painted by me.

Do you shoot Portraits?

No, I don't intend on pursuing Portraits, Weddings or any other type of photography at this time.

Where are the prints printed?

I work with carefully selected professional fine art printing labs in British Columbia, Canada who know what they are doing. They specialize in printing gallery quality fine art photography prints.

Learn about Fine Art Paper and why I chose Hahnemuhle and Moab brands for my prints. As well as the Giclee' (Zhee-clay) printing method.

What is the process from order to delivery?

Once the order is placed and payment is made, I send the order to the print lab for production. It takes about 3-5 business days for printing. And about 7 business days for canvases. Then they are inspected for quality, carefully packaged and shipped. Depending upon where you live, locally, in Canada or US, you should receive your orders within 7 business days.

Where can I purchase your photography prints for my home or business?

My modern  wall art prints  are now available for purchase directly through my website. You can also purchase them as gallery wrapped canvas.

What do I need to know about displaying the artwork?

  • Please get your print framed quickly so as to avoid any scratches, creases etc.

  • Please choose great lighting so you can enjoy the details and spectrum of colors in the image. Typically LED bulbs are recommended that emit a warm soft light instead of harsh white or yellow.

  • Please ensure your light fixtures aren't casting any glow or glare on the artwork.

  • A 30 degree angle is considered optimal for light beam projection.

  • Even, full distribution of light is necessary. Avoid uneven lighting where only part of the artwork is lit.

  • No direct sunshine on the artwork please to avoid damage, shadows and glare. Indirect light is okay.

How do I take care of my artwork?

  • Keep your print away from direct sunlight, or intense reflected light from mirrors, glass, etc.

  • Display your canvas print in a moisture-free environment.

  • Display your canvas at a safe distance from any sources of direct heat such as a fireplace or radiator.

  • Run a soft feather duster over the front and top of the piece periodically to remove settled dust.

  • Avoid using any form of liquid, chemical or spray products to clean your canvas.

  • For marks on the print, you can use a soft damp cloth to rub very gently over the area affected.

  • The flexibility of canvas material means that it can sometimes get dimpled, whether from handling or in transit during shipping. To remove these dimples, spray a mist of water on the back of the canvas. Then, either with a finger or paintbrush, gently rub the water into the surface of the canvas. Allow the canvas to dry and tighten to its original tautness.
